We Are Hiring a Social Media Manager

As a youth-led civic organisation, we’re committed to good governance, digital inclusion, and gender equity across Nigeria and beyond. Our projects span grassroots mobilisations, advocacy campaigns, digital rights, and gender-based violence prevention—all powered by data, strategy, and heart.

We are now seeking a creative, strategic, and passionate Social Media Manager to lead and grow our digital footprint. If you live and breathe content, trends, and impact and you’re ready to tell stories that shift mindsets and move policy, this role is for you.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute BBYDI’s social media strategy across platforms (X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads, TikTok).
  • Align content with organisational priorities, advocacy campaigns, and program goals.
  • Create quarterly and monthly content calendars in collaboration with the communications team.

Content Creation

  • Draft engaging, on-brand copy for all platforms (including captions, threads, graphics text, video scripts, and hashtags).
  • Design compelling visuals using Canva or similar tools.
  • Curate and share user-generated content, news, advocacy messages, and event updates.
  • Plan and execute Reels, Stories, and other interactive features.

Community Engagement & Growth

  • Grow BBYDI’s digital audience and maintain high levels of engagement.
  • Monitor DMs and comments, respond promptly, and build meaningful relationships with followers.
  • Work with project teams to spotlight programme success stories and amplify beneficiary voices.

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track analytics using tools like Meta Business Suite, X Analytics, and third-party platforms.
  • Analyse performance and recommend data-driven improvements.
  • Prepare monthly reports on reach, engagement, growth, and content performance.

Collaboration & Coordination

  • Work closely with the Communications Director, Programmes Team, and external media partners.
  • Support content needs for press releases, newsletters, campaigns, and live events.
  • Supervise interns, volunteers, or junior social media contributors when required.

Who You Are (Key Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Marketing, Journalism, or related fields.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of professional experience managing social media for NGOs, development organisations, advocacy groups, or brands.
  • Strong command of written and spoken English (bonus for Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa or French proficiency).
  • Exceptional storytelling, copywriting, and visual communication skills.
  • Proficient in Canva, Meta Business Suite, Creator Studio, and scheduling tools like Buffer or Hootsuite.
  • Familiarity with Nigeria’s civic tech and development space is a huge plus.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines.
  • Passion for youth development, gender equity, human rights, and social impact.

What We’re Looking For (Core Traits)

  • Creative Thinker – You see posts, campaigns, and movements before others do.
  • Organised & Detail-Oriented – You juggle calendars, captions, and deadlines with ease.
  • Results-Driven – You track growth, optimise performance, and measure what matters.
  • People-Person – You build communities, not just audiences.
  • Mission-Aligned – You believe in BBYDI’s values and want to use your skills for impact.

What We Offer

  • Salary: ₦60,000 – ₦80,000
  • A dynamic, youthful, and purpose-driven work environment.
